SUMMARY:Teaching the Holocaust in Missouri: Level 1
DESCRIPTION:Level 1 – First-Time ParticipantsPresented by the Missouri Holocaust Education and Awareness Commission \nWith the passage of the Missouri Holocaust Education and Awareness Act (SB681)\, all Missouri school districts shall be required to teach students in grades 6-12 about the Holocaust beginning in the 2025-26 school year.  Each participating school district shall provide a plan of professional development for teachers to ensure teachers are adequately prepared to provide the instruction. \nThe Missouri Holocaust Education and Awareness Commission is offering a professional training workshop on teaching the Holocaust for Missouri educators charged with teaching this history. \nThis Level 1 foundational training provides educators with essential historical context\, pedagogical strategies\, and instructional resources to effectively and sensitively teach the Holocaust. \nBenefits of Participation: \n\nFree professional development for educators grades 6-12\nHigh-quality\, evidence-based resources for teaching the Holocaust\nMentoring support to design and deliver pedagogically sound Holocaust lessons\nParticipation in a cadre of Missouri Holocaust educators\nComplimentary resource books\n\nWorkshop Details: \n\nTeaching the Holocaust in Missouri\nFebruary 1 – 3\, 2026\nDrury Plaza Hotel Columbia\, Missouri\n\nSpace is limited to the first 28 registrants. All registrants will be notified of their status. Confirmed registrants will receive a hotel registration link.
