Mission Statement

The mission of the Missouri Holocaust Education and Awareness Commission is to promote implementation of the Holocaust and awareness programs in Missouri in order to encourage understanding of the Holocaust and discourage bigotry.

The Holocaust is defined as the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its allies and collaborators during the period from 1933 through 1945.  Millions of others were also murdered.

Education

With the new mandate to teach Holocaust education in all Missouri schools by the 2025-26 school year, the Missouri Holocaust Education Awareness Commission is working with the Department of Elementary and Secondary education to create a curriculum framework of instruction and identify resources and effective teaching strategies.

News

The Missouri Holocaust Education and Awareness Commission is gravely concerned about the unprecedented increase in antisemitism, discrimination and dehumanization happening throughout the world.  We encourage all individuals to examine their thoughts, speech, actions and non-actions in light of the horrors of the Holocaust and confront antisemitism and all forms of hate.

Events

The Missouri Holocaust Education and Awareness Commission provides professional development workshops for Missouri educators, targeting pilot districts and schools as outlined in the Missouri Holocaust Education and Awareness Act.  If you are interested in learning more about one of our upcoming workshops, please be sure to subscribe to our email list to stay informed.
